What is Hepatitis A?
Hepatitis A is a viral infection that affects the liver and is transmitted through ingestion of contaminated food and water or through direct contact with an infectious person. While some individuals might experience mild symptoms or none at all, others can experience more severe symptoms, especially as they age. Symptoms can include fatigue, nausea, stomach pain, and jaundice, and recovery can take weeks to months. Lifelong immunity usually follows infection.
